History of Trimiklini
a story of many centuries

The village of Trimiklini is build in the largest valley of Cyprus and is located 27 km from Limassol, between Limassol and Troodos Mountain. Since many years ago it was a necessary stopover for rest. Continuous high mountaitops surround the village with the highest mountain being mount Zalaka, apart from a large ravine, on the South side of the community, which makes it impossible to be viewed from one spot.

There are two acceptations from where the name of Trimiklini village originated, according to tradition. The first acceptation claims that the name comes from the Greek words ‘’thermo klini’’, which in ancient times was supposed to be a very stable climate during both summer and winter so that lots of patients were visiting the village for healing. This is the reason why In Greek grammar the name of village is spelled with all ‘’yiota letters’’ except for the last ‘’etta letter’’. The other acceptance by tradition claims that the name comes from the word ‘’thermo krini’’ and was connected to a fountain, which had water running warm in the winter and cold in the summer.
